These works are a response to the new landscapes I experienced when I moved to Leith. The sense of place, or being out of place, made me aware of landscape as an interrelationship between us and our surroundings, rather than as visual scenery. I attempt to generate something of how we place ourselves in landscape and how we view the landscape from that place, relying on the viewer’s own response to the paintings. The imagery originates through photographs, drawings and collage of features around Leith and Edinburgh and the Forth coastline, and also from personal experience of other places.
